Interior do DarkRebel antecipa o futuro dos modelos da Cupra

The Cupra DarkRebel was born in the virtual world, in Metahype, the brand’s space in the metaverse, and transitioned to the real world, being revealed as a Concept at the last edition of the Munich Motor Show.

The sporty model that represents Cupra’s passion for design features a bold exterior, further highlighted by an interior that evokes emotions.

Light is one of the most important aspects of the DarkRebel’s interior, as it determines the design and gives personality to each of its parts. “We designed a fluid and continuous surface, mimicking skin, to create a perfect background for lighting effects, from door projections to immersive ambient light and jewel-like transparent pieces, blurring the lines between the physical and virtual world”, explains Francesca Sangalli, responsible for Cupra’s Colour & Trim Concept & Strategy.

Three original environments were developed that represent a central reality of the brand: Square, Cube, and Infinite. Embracing Cupra’s irreverent mindset and digital DNA, DarkRebel redefines the automotive experience, combining the physical and digital worlds.

By drawing inspiration from video games, drivers are not just driving: they are engaging in a continuous and immersive connection with the Cupra Tribe. “They are controlled from the steering wheel and adapt the entire car: exterior, interior, lighting, sound, and exclusive functions for each experience”, says Jaume Sala, Cupra’s Director of UX/UI Design.

The concept car that reinforces Cupra’s strategy to focus on authenticity, using parametric design and additive manufacturing. “The Supersport seats feature custom-made 3D effect upholstery. Their color alternates between dark blue and shimmering magenta and violet, depending on the visual perspective and ambient lighting, once again using light as a tangible element,” adds Sangalli. The central column is made of an aluminum and titanium alloy, also using 3D technology with additive manufacturing, taking Cupra’s design appeal to the next level.

While the DarkRebel does not foresee any production model, it anticipates what we can expect from the brand’s design in the future, namely very expressive surfaces and strong, distinct graphic elements.
