Ineos Automotive, the British brand that produces the SUV Grenadier as well as the Quartermaster pickup, is studying the feasibility of producing the electric SUV Fusilier in collaboration with the Chinese company Chery.
According to the British press, Ineos Automotive is exploring the feasibility of using Chery’s electric platform, featuring range-extending technology, to produce its new model.
The British publication “Autocar” reports that this step could accelerate the development of the Fusilier, a smaller SUV than the Grenadier, whose production has been delayed by Ineos Automotive.
Everything suggests that Ineos may use the engine from Chery’s upcoming V27, an SUV that uses a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine as a power generator when the available battery, with 22 or 33 kWh, is depleted. At 4.8 meters long and just under two meters high, the V27 is larger than the already revealed concept of the Fusilier but more compact than the Grenadier. The all-wheel-drive version of the V27 is equipped with an electric motor on each axle and, according to the Chinese brand, is capable of delivering a power output of 456 hp.
Remember that the Ineos Fusilier has smaller dimensions than the two initial models from the British brand, but aims to maintain its excellent off-road qualities, while not compromising on performance on asphalt.
Ineos, in addition to wanting to present a fully electric version, aims to launch a variant that the brand claims has extended range, equipped with a gasoline engine capable of preserving the battery charge level in case a charging source is not available.
