Renowned motorsports presenter, Will Buxton, recently made headlines as he transitioned from Formula 1 to become the lead TV presenter for IndyCar under FOX. A long-time fan of American open wheel racing, Buxton revealed his perspective on IndyCar, dubbing it as “motorsport’s best-kept secret.”
In an intriguing revelation, Buxton suggested that despite the global silence, there’s a unanimous opinion within the racing community that IndyCar indeed provides the finest racing experience on the planet. However, the silent acknowledgement remains hushed, as admitting this, according to Buxton, would be tantamount to undermining their own championships.
As Buxton embraces his new role, he will be in the company of several drivers who have also transitioned from Formula 1 to IndyCar, such as Marcus Ericsson. Alonso’s promising start at his inaugural Indianapolis 500 was followed by a failure to even qualify the subsequent year. The stark contrast in his performance can serve as a cautionary tale to Formula 1 drivers considering the switch to IndyCar.
Despite the perceived fears and challenges, Buxton commended the audacity of drivers who dare to make the leap, showcasing their willingness to test their mettle in the intense world of IndyCar racing.
