Tesla Celebrates Independence Day with New Military Purchase Program to Honor Service Members

In a bold move to dispel misconceptions, Tesla, the renowned American carmaker, is reminding the public of its true origins this Fourth of July. The company has been fighting against anti-electric vehicle propaganda that falsely claims their cars are produced in China. In reality, Tesla is 100% American-made and has consistently earned top scores in the American-made vehicle index.

Leading the pack as the most American-made vehicle is the Tesla Model Y, followed closely by the Model S, Model X, and Model 3, ranking 4th, 9th, and 21st, respectively. However, it’s worth noting that the Cybertruck, a highly anticipated model, is exempt from the American Automobile Labeling Act (AALA) reporting requirements due to its high GVWR (above 8,500 lbs./3,855 kg).

To further reinforce its American identity, Tesla has introduced its own Military Purchase Program, joining other automakers in offering discounts to veterans and active-duty members of the military. This initiative, named “Made in America for those who served,” provides a $1,000 discount on all Tesla vehicles, except for the Cybertruck and used cars. The program is open to veterans, retirees, active duty members, and their spouses, with no limit on the number of cars that can be purchased. However, it’s important to note that the offer is non-transferrable, cannot be redeemed for cash, and cannot be applied retroactively.

Comparing Tesla’s military discount program to those of other carmakers, it falls within the range of $500 to $1,000, which is a common offering. Some manufacturers, such as BMW, provide more generous incentives, ranging from $500 to $5,000 for lease or new vehicle purchases. While Tesla’s discount aligns with industry standards, it is still more generous than many of its competitors.

In addition to the Military Purchase Program, Tesla is also implementing various incentives to boost sales and maintain momentum. The company exceeded Wall Street estimates for second quarter deliveries, and it aims to continue this success. To entice existing owners to upgrade and attract new customers, Tesla is extending the free Full Self-Driving (FSD) transfer window until September 30. Originally set to end in August, this opportunity allows owners to transfer their FSD package to a new vehicle for free. Furthermore, Tesla is offering three months of complimentary Supercharging to individuals who take delivery of a Model 3, Model Y, Model S, or Model X by August 15.

As Tesla celebrates its American heritage and strives to accelerate sales, the company’s efforts to dispel misinformation and provide incentives demonstrate its commitment to both existing and prospective customers. With its strong performance in the second quarter and the continuation of enticing offers, Tesla is poised for a successful third quarter.
