Ida Zetterström: The Unstoppable Force in Drag Racing

Ida Zetterström, the fierce Swedish speedster, is not one to wait for opportunities; she seizes them with unwavering determination. Her journey in motorsports has been nothing short of extraordinary, from shattering gender stereotypes to dominating the European drag racing scene and now making waves in the American National Hot Rod Association (NHRA).

Starting her racing career at the tender age of 8 in Jr Dragsters, Zetterström quickly climbed the ranks, earning her Super Comp Dragster license by 16. But her path to success was not a straightforward one. Before diving into full-time racing, she balanced a career as an electrician and later transitioned into marketing, showcasing her versatility and resilience.

Despite facing challenges and living through the trials of the COVID era, Zetterström’s unwavering commitment to her passion led her from Europe to the USA. Her dedication and hard work culminated in her becoming the first woman to win the Super Street Bike championships in 2019 and setting a new European record for the fastest time in the 2023 drag racing championship.

As a trailblazer in a male-dominated sport, Zetterström acknowledges the importance of her role in inspiring other women to pursue their racing dreams. She aims not just to be the fastest woman on the track but the fastest individual overall, breaking barriers and defying expectations.

Currently gearing up for the 2025 NHRA season, Zetterström is part of the groundbreaking all-female nitro team alongside veteran racer Alexis Dejoria. Their high energy and shared determination promise an exhilarating season ahead, as they aim to leave an indelible mark on the drag racing world.

Ida Zetterström’s story is a testament to resilience, perseverance, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. As she continues to make history in the world of motorsports, she remains grounded in the roots that have shaped her remarkable journey to success.
