Hyundai has announced that its Izmit factory in Turkey will enhance the production capacity of the South Korean brand’s electric vehicles starting in 2026, having already begun preparations for the production of 100% electric models from next year.
The 100% electric models from Hyundai manufactured at the İzmit factory “will contribute to increasing the brand’s supply, thereby supporting the growing demand in the European market for sustainable mobility solutions”, the South Korean brand’s statement adds.
Alongside electric models, the Turkish factory will continue to produce internal combustion engine models such as the Hyundai i20. With over three million vehicles produced over 28 years, Hyundai’s factory in Turkey continues to significantly contribute to employment, exports, and the local economy.
“In addition to expanding production, Hyundai Motor Türkiye prioritizes local sourcing, with over 55% of vehicle components manufactured in the country through a network of more than 50 suppliers. The locally produced electric vehicles will further emphasize this commitment”, adds Hyundai’s note.
