Hyundai Set to Dominate Rally Portugal and Crush Toyota’s Championship Dreams

Hyundai is gearing up for a fierce battle in Rally Portugal as they aim to crush Toyota’s dominance in the World Rally Championship. Following a disappointing performance at Rally Islas Canarias, Hyundai is determined to make a strong comeback and outscore their rivals on the challenging Portuguese roads.

Despite facing setbacks in the previous rally, Hyundai’s world champion Thierry Neuville remains confident in the team’s abilities on gravel terrain. Neuville expressed his belief that Hyundai can match Toyota’s performance, setting the stage for an intense showdown between the two manufacturers.

New recruit Adrien Fourmaux highlighted the areas for improvement within Hyundai’s setup, emphasizing the importance of fine-tuning the car for different terrains. With the upgraded i20 N Rally1 yet to be tested on gravel, anticipation is high to see its performance in Portugal.

Neuville and Fourmaux are both laser-focused on surpassing Toyota in Portugal, with Neuville targeting championship leader Elfyn Evans and young gun Kalle Rovanperä. The team’s goal is clear – to stop Toyota’s domination and secure a podium finish to reignite their championship hopes.

Team veteran Ott Tänak emphasized the significance of Rally Portugal, acknowledging the fierce competition in the championship. Tänak stressed the team’s commitment to regaining the top spot and expressed the need for relentless effort and determination.

Hyundai Motorsport’s president Cyril Abiteboul highlighted the importance of a strong performance in Portugal to close the gap to Toyota. Abiteboul emphasized the team’s experience on gravel terrains and their determination to bounce back from the previous setbacks.

As Hyundai prepares to unleash their full potential in Rally Portugal, all eyes are on them to see if they can deliver a stellar performance and shake up the championship standings. With the stage set for an epic showdown, Hyundai is ready to make their mark and assert their dominance in the World Rally Championship.
