Hyundai RN24 o concept que aponta ao futuro elétrico de alto desempenho

Hyundai has just revealed its latest concept, the RN24, a “mobile laboratory” that serves as a testing ground for high-performance technologies that may be used in future models from the N division.

This concept is thus the latest evolution of an innovative series of test vehicles, such as the N Vision 74, which the brand claims are designed to bridge the gap between motorsport technology and the production N models.

In creating the RN24, Hyundai’s engineers aimed to find a solution to equip the concept with powerful capabilities in the smallest possible space. To achieve this, they developed a custom electric vehicle chassis inspired by the World Rally Championship, equipped with two electric motors producing 641 hp from the Ioniq 5 N and a redesigned battery pack that maintains the 84 kWh capacity of the production model but allows for a wheelbase that is 340 mm shorter.

The RN24’s chassis system features a newly designed WRC-style suspension setup with rally-spec dampers and high-rigidity substructures.

This RN24 is equipped with a long list of features to provide a reference dynamic, such as the WRC Powertrain Drive Control Logic system that allows the driver to adjust the power, the sensitivity of acceleration, and regenerative braking using buttons on the steering wheel.

Additionally, the cooling performance of the battery and engine of the RN24 is ensured by modifications made to the system used in the Ioniq 5 N, and extra dynamics are achieved through a new steering configuration that makes it quicker and allows for a rally car-level response.

“The RN24 exemplifies Hyundai N’s commitment to advancing electric motorsport technology by prioritizing the driving experience over specification numbers. This Rolling Lab proves that there is still untapped potential for high-performance electric vehicles, and with new technologies on the horizon, there is much to look forward to,” said Joon Park, vice president of the N Brand Management Group.
