The Hyundai Motor Group revealed its strategy for the future of mobility based on hydrogen in Japan, officially presenting the HTWO brand and business platform during the H2&FC EXPO, one of the main international events dedicated to this technology.
The participation of the South Korean group, from March 17 to 19 at Tokyo Big Sight, was marked by a comprehensive approach to the hydrogen value chain, from production to practical application in different modes of transport.
HTWO platform marks a new phase in the group’s strategy
HTWO emerges as the new brand and business platform of the Hyundai Motor Group dedicated to hydrogen, designed to integrate complete solutions throughout the entire value chain of this energy resource.
In addition to consolidating the group’s competencies in this area, HTWO positions itself as an open platform for collaboration, promoting partnerships and investment with different entities. Its debut in the Japanese market reinforces the group’s ambition to accelerate the global transition to a sustainable hydrogen-based economy.

Technology and mobility in focus at the exhibition
During the event, Hyundai Motor Group presented a diverse set of technological solutions that highlight its positioning in hydrogen mobility.
Among the highlights was the new NEXO, the brand’s flagship model equipped with a fuel cell, presented in the version intended for the Japanese market. Visitors also had the opportunity to test the vehicle, experiencing improvements in design, interior space, and performance.
The exhibition also included various technologies integrated into the HTWO platform, namely hydrogen refueling solutions — including a modular station concept — as well as applications in rail transport, buses, trucks, and fuel cell systems. An automatic hydrogen loading robot was also demonstrated.
Conference Reinforces Strategic Vision
As part of the event’s programming, Duckwhan Kim, vice president of the Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Engineering Design Group 1, presented a lecture titled “Electrification Solution Powered by Fuel Cell Technology.”
The presentation highlighted the group’s journey in developing fuel cell technologies, as well as its offering of light and commercial FCEV vehicles and solutions associated with the hydrogen value chain.
International Cooperation to Accelerate the Hydrogen Economy
As co-chair of the Hydrogen Council, Hyundai Motor Group also participated in meetings with other members of the organization in Japan, aiming to promote the development of the hydrogen economy globally.

New NEXO gains features adapted for Japan
Completely redesigned for the first time since its launch in 2018, the new NEXO reinforces Hyundai’s commitment to zero-emission mobility.
The version presented for the Japanese market introduces the Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) functionality, which allows the vehicle to supply power to a home in emergency situations, such as earthquakes or power outages. This solution complements the already existing Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) system.
The technical specifications and pricing of the new model for Japan are expected to be announced during the first half of 2026.
Event gathered global hydrogen industry
The H2&FC EXPO is one of the main Japanese fairs dedicated to hydrogen and fuel cell technologies, integrated into Smart Energy Week. The spring edition featured around 300 companies and 21 conferences, bringing together experts and industry leaders from around the world.
