Horse inicia produção de novo motor elétrico

A Horse, a joint venture between Renault and the Chinese company Geely for the production of combustion and hybrid engines, announced this Tuesday the start of production at its factory in Aveiro, Portugal, of the new electric motor eMotor.

Designed for applications in full hybrid and plug-in hybrid systems, the new eMotor has a power output of 66 hp and a maximum torque of 212 Nm, being positioned between the combustion engine and the transmission, allowing it to operate in 100% electric mode or in conjunction with the combustion engine.

In electric mode, the new motor delivers traction directly to the wheels at speeds of up to 130 km/h. In hybrid mode, the eMotor assists the internal combustion engine in providing greater acceleration and improved fuel efficiency. Additionally, when the vehicle decelerates, the eMotor functions as a generator.

A Horse also revealed that the new eMotor will initially be used in models that utilize the HR12, HR16, and HR18 internal combustion engines from Horse.

To make the production of the new motor possible, Horse’s factory in Aveiro had to undergo an investment in four new lines that allow for the manufacture of up to 160,000 units per year.

“The start of eMotor production in Aveiro reinforces Horse’s commitment to providing efficient powertrains using the most advanced technology. With its compact design and ability to operate in 100% electric mode, this powerful and efficient motor is perfect for many types of hybrid vehicles”, said Patrice Haettel, CEO of Horse.
