Red Bull dominated their Formula 1 rivals in Bahrain on Saturday, with Max Verstappen securing a commanding victory from pole position. Meanwhile, Sergio Perez made an impressive recovery from fifth place to finish second, although he trailed his teammate by over 20 seconds.
However, the team faced challenging circumstances during the race weekend. Team principal Christian Horner was subjected to an investigation following allegations of “inappropriate behavior” towards a colleague. Despite being cleared of the accusations, supposed evidence was leaked on Thursday, causing a stir in the F1 paddock.
Maintaining his innocence, Horner, accompanied by his wife Geri Halliwell, continued to lead his team during the opening weekend of the 2024 Formula 1 season in Bahrain. In an interview with Sky Sports F1 after the race, Horner expressed his gratitude to the hard-working people in Milton Keynes who dedicated themselves to the team’s success during the winter.
He emphasized the team’s strong performance, achieving a one-two finish and scoring maximum points. Horner praised the team’s tireless efforts and their refusal to become complacent. He highlighted the innovative ideas implemented in the RB20 car, describing it as an aggressive revolution and a significant evolution from the previous year’s RB19.
When asked about the team’s situation amid the ongoing saga, Horner emphasized their unity and strength. He acknowledged the tremendous support from partners and shareholders, emphasizing that such remarkable results could only be achieved through a united front.
Regarding his presence at the upcoming race in Saudi Arabia, Horner confirmed his participation without hesitation, stating that he would not be there if he had any doubts.
