If we can learn anything from the recent events at Red Bull Racing, it is that appearances can be deceiving and even the most successful teams can be thrown into chaos with minimal effort. It all started with an investigation into the alleged conduct of Horner towards a colleague, an accusation that Red Bull GmbH, the team’s parent company, ultimately cleared him of. However, the situation took a turn when leaked photos and text messages surfaced, causing a frenzy in the F1 world. Jos Verstappen then rebelled, demanding that Horner be removed or else Red Bull Racing would face serious consequences. While Verstappen Jr. defended his absent father in Saudi Arabia, it was revealed that the complainant had been suspended from her position at Red Bull Racing, a matter Horner chose not to comment on. This sequence of events led to an investigation into the possible involvement of Helmut Marko in the leaks related to Horner’s case, prompting Verstappen to defend Marko and even threaten to leave the team if the 80-year-old Austrian was ousted. However, this situation was quickly resolved when Marko announced less than 24 hours later that he would stay at Red Bull after discussions with Oliver Mintzlaff, the chief corporate projects executive of Red Bull GmbH, who was present in the Jeddah paddock. When asked about the internal turbulence at Red Bull, Horner emphasized the importance of unity within the team, stating that no individual is above the collective. He also addressed Verstappen’s threat to leave if Marko left, highlighting the value of the driver but reiterating that everyone has a role to play in the team. Regarding the discussions between Marko and Mintzlaff, Horner distanced himself from the matter, emphasizing that it was unrelated to the racing team and solely between the two individuals. Horner was also asked about his relationship with Jos Verstappen after the latter’s comments about his son potentially leaving Red Bull Racing and whether it could be repaired. Horner stressed the importance of focusing on on-track performances and maintaining a strong spirit and team culture throughout the company, as he is responsible for running the team. In conclusion, Horner emphasized the need for each member to contribute to the team’s success, with Max Verstappen fulfilling his role alongside the others.
