The second largest automobile manufacturer in Japan, Honda, announced this Thursday profits of ¥805.3 billion (€5.03 billion) between April and December, down 8% compared to the same period last year, due to a decline in sales in China, the largest automobile market in the world.
Meanwhile, Honda’s operating profit for the nine months of the fiscal year in Japan reached ¥1.13 trillion (€7.107 billion), an increase of 5.6% compared to the previous year, according to the financial report.
On the other hand, the company’s revenue increased by 8.1%, reaching ¥16.3 trillion (€101.8 billion).
It should be noted that Honda’s results for the period between April and December were revealed on the same day it was announced that the merger with Nissan will not proceed, after both companies stated that “as a result of the discussions, both companies concluded that in order to make faster decisions and implement management strategies more efficiently in an increasingly volatile market, the best decision is to terminate the negotiations and rescind the memorandum of understanding”.
