Brad Pitt, the Hollywood megastar, has expressed bittersweet emotions as filming concludes for the highly anticipated Formula 1 movie, produced by seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton. Shot extensively during the 2024 F1 season, the film brought Pitt into the high-octane world of motorsport, an experience he says he wishes could have lasted much longer.

“I Might Shed a Tear”

Pitt, who plays a driver for the fictional team APXGP, became a familiar face at Grand Prix locations throughout the season. The final scenes, fittingly filmed at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, marked the end of an extraordinary chapter for the actor. Reflecting on the journey, Pitt admitted the process was so enjoyable that saying goodbye was no easy task.

“I’ve been having the time of my life,” Pitt said. “I wish it could go on another year. I might shed a tear. You might see a grown man cry.”

A Newfound Respect for Formula 1

Spending months immersed in the world of F1 gave Pitt a unique perspective on the sport’s intensity and complexity. The 60-year-old actor was left in awe of the drivers’ skill and the sheer capabilities of the cars, describing them as “off the charts.”

“I’ve got so much respect for these guys,” Pitt said. “What these drivers and cars can do—it’s just incredible.”

Aiming for the Best Racing Movie Ever

The film’s realism is a key focus, with production crews integrating seamlessly into live race weekends to capture authentic footage. Pitt revealed that director Joseph Kosinski, known for his work on Top Gun: Maverick, emphasized making the experience as genuine as possible.

“Our director said, ‘Put the actors in the car, immerse ourselves in the weekend, and make the best racing movie,’” Pitt recalled. “I dare say we’ve done it.”

A Winter Treat for F1 Fans

The movie, titled simply Formula 1, is expected to offer fans an unparalleled glimpse into the sport. From the cinematic thrills of racing to the behind-the-scenes grind, the project promises to set a new benchmark for motorsport films. Combined with Netflix’s Drive to Survive, it will help fill the void for F1 fans during the winter break.

With Brad Pitt’s heartfelt endorsement and a production team dedicated to authenticity, Formula 1 is shaping up to be a must-watch for racing enthusiasts and film buffs alike.
