More candidates are emerging to host the Formula E round in Italy next season. The temporary circuit on the streets of Rome, debuted in 2018, was ruled out for safety reasons, and there is still no successor. And this could be a permanent track, with Vallelunga joining the interested parties.

The track in the outskirts of Rome recently signed the letter of intent. However, there are other possible options being analyzed, such as Imola and Misano – which host, respectively, Formula 1 and MotoGP Grand Prix. According to the website affaritaliani.it, Vallelunga highlights in the letter the social and institutional relevance of the event.

The alleged signatories of the letter are the president of the Lazio region and the counselor for the environment, sports, climate change, energy transition, and sustainability. The regional entities commit to participating in the financing with 500,000 euros. The document emphasizes the suitability of the track for Formula E.

The proximity to Rome and the support of the Lazio region are arguments in favor of Vallelunga. The track itself has good conditions and features, but the respective support infrastructure and accommodation options in the area work against a visit from Formula E to the historic track.
