The experienced octogenarian emphasized that the W15 showed great speed on some occasions, but also fell short of expectations on other occasions. There is a widespread belief in the paddock that the 2024 challenger of the Brackley-based team has a fundamental flaw that cannot be corrected. Despite the current difficulties, it is surprising to Marko that Mercedes has not been able to reach the same level of dominance it had during the turbo-hybrid era. During that period, no other team came close to the success Mercedes achieved, including eight consecutive constructors’ world championships and several drivers’ titles. With the new F1 regulations approaching in 2026, it is possible that Mercedes will finally break free from its current situation and make a strong comeback in the championship battle.
