Helmut Marko considerou sair da Red Bull em 2023.

Dr. Helmut Marko, a prominent figure in Red Bull, contemplated leaving the renowned Austrian team at the end of the previous season. Recently, Red Bull Racing has been involved in a series of controversies, leading Marko to question his own position in Milton Keynes. Despite this, it is expected that the octogenarian will remain with the team. Marko has now revealed that he seriously considered parting ways with the team last year.

Marko serves as Motorsport Consultant for Red Bull and is directly employed by Red Bull GmbH, the parent company. Initially, he was on the verge of leaving the team. However, after the unfortunate passing of Dietrich Mateschitz in 2022, Marko found himself facing greater responsibility within the Austrian organization. This likely created challenges for him in Milton Keynes.

The Red Bull advisor has now openly acknowledged that he considered leaving the team at the end of 2023. Although he did not elaborate on the specific reasons behind his possible departure, Marko emphasized the importance of Milton Keynes distancing itself from the recent controversies to honor Mateschitz’s legacy. He stated that the team has a responsibility to uphold and continue the ideas and values of the late co-founder.

There were rumors that the octogenarian was responsible for leaking internal evidence related to Christian Horner’s investigation to the media. However, the situation has since calmed down. Marko even mentioned that Red Bull chose to overlook the alleged leaking of evidence against Horner due to lack of legal basis.

Furthermore, Marko made it clear that he would not be suspended by Red Bull. He stated that Milton Keynes would strive to the fullest to secure the 2024 F1 World Championship title. Previously, Max Verstappen had expressed his intention to leave the team if Marko was forced to depart.

It is highly likely that Helmut Marko will continue his association with Red Bull in the near future. Over more than two decades, he has played a key role in the development of Milton Keynes. However, ongoing controversies may affect the dynamics within the team in the coming days.
