Phil Hanson was the fastest driver during the second free practice session at the historic 12-hour race in Sebring for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Hanson, driving the JDC-Miller MotorSports Porsche 963 #85, set a lap time of 1:48.149 in preparation for the 12 Hours of Sebring, which will take place on Saturday, March 16. This time was achieved using the customer Porsche GTP, a successful package that has already delivered a win for the Porsche Penske factory team at the season opener in Daytona. Sebastien Bourdais, in the golden Cadillac Racing V-Series.R #01, finished second with a lap time of 1:48.295. The reigning champions of Wehlen Cadillac Racing secured third place in the GTP class with their V-Series.R #31, driven by Pipo Derani, who completed a lap time of 1:48.483. Louis Deletraz placed the WTRAndretti Acura ARX-06 #40 in fourth place with a lap time of 1:48.720, followed by Mathieu Jaminet with 1:49.012 in the Porsche Penske 963 #6. In the LMP2 category, the Riley Oreca 07 #74 was the fastest, with Josh Burdon setting the best lap time of 1:52.078. The Crowdstrike Racing by APR Oreca 07s #04 and PR1 by Inter Europol #52 respectively took second and third places in both the LMP2 category and the overall classification. Toby Sowery set a lap time of 1:52.214 in the Oreca #04, while Tom Dillmann took the #52 to a time of 1:52.214. In the GTD Pro class, the reigning champions Vasser Sullivan led the rankings with their Lexus RC F GT3 #14. Jack Hawksworth set the pace with a lap time of 2:00.304, which also placed them second in the combined order of both GTD classes. Risi Competizione, winner of the Daytona 24 Hours, finished second in GTD Pro with Davide Rigon’s lap time of 2:00.758. Third place in the class went to Olly Jarvis in the Pfaff Motorsports McLaren 720S GT3 EVO #9, with a lap time of 2:01.121. The Vasser Sullivan GTD #12 not only was the fastest in its class, but also the fastest in the entire combined field of GTDs and GTD Pros, with Parker Thompson setting a lap time of 2:00.237. The fastest GTD was the Forte Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 #78, driven by Loris Spinelli, with a lap time of 2:01.445. Mikael Grenier’s lap time of 2:01.478 in the Team Korthoff Mercedes-AMG GT3 #32 completed the top three in the GTD category. The action will continue with FP3, the final 1 hour and 30-minute free practice session, starting at 7:45 PM local time (11:45 PM GMT).
