Hamilton praises Liberty Media’s recent purchase of MotoGP as “exciting”.

Seven-time Formula 1 champion, Lewis Hamilton praised the acquisition of MotoGP by Liberty Media as “exciting” and expressed his enthusiasm for both series to take place on the same weekend. Liberty Media, the owner of F1, intends to take control of Dorna Sports by the end of 2024, becoming the guardian of the main four and two-wheeled motor sports. This move is part of Liberty’s strategy to replicate the global success it has achieved with F1. Hamilton, who has experience in two-wheeled motor sports, welcomed this news with open arms and believes that Liberty can do a great job with MotoGP. During the Japanese GP weekend in Suzuka, Hamilton expressed his desire to participate in races in both MotoGP and F1 on the same weekend, although he acknowledges that this is impossible. In 2019, Hamilton and MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi had a crossover event at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia, Spain, where they swapped vehicles and did a joint demonstration. Both drivers thoroughly enjoyed the experience and Rossi praised Hamilton for his skills. However, despite fans’ hopes, Dorna’s sports director, Carlos Ezpeleta, stated that there are currently no plans for F1 and MotoGP to share the same venue on the same weekend.
