Hamilton made a triumphant return to the podium in Barcelona, marking the 198th time he has achieved this feat in his Formula 1 career. After the Spanish Grand Prix, Hamilton expressed how this experience served as a reminder that his passion for racing is still burning strong. Before the race in Barcelona, Hamilton had shown promising signs during the practice sessions, only to falter when it really mattered. However, he capitalized on the recent progress made by Mercedes and turned his third-place starting position into a top-three finish, his first since October of last year in Mexico. With his 198th podium achievement, Hamilton has now appeared on the podium in all 18 seasons of his career. Looking towards the future, he aims to maintain this momentum in Austria. When asked if the sensation he feels while racing is as intense as it was in his debut season, Hamilton confirmed that it is still present. He emphasized the importance of having races like Barcelona, where he can showcase his skills and enjoy challenging overtakes. Hamilton also acknowledged that Barcelona has always been a strong track for him over the years. He believes that moments like these serve as a reminder that his passion for racing is still alive and well. Although the Mercedes team is certainly in good spirits after consecutive podium finishes, Hamilton cautions against getting carried away. He recognizes the positive energy within the team and the sense of direction they currently have, but emphasizes the need to remain focused and not become overly confident. Hamilton also warns that the unpredictable nature of his car, the W15, can present challenges during the Sprint format, which allows only one hour of practice. He explains that his car usually takes time to be adjusted and perform at its best, but he remains optimistic and looks forward to the Sprint weekends, despite the limited time for adjustments.
