Hamilton Declares Zandvoort “One of the Best Circuits” Ahead of Final F1 Showdown!

Lewis Hamilton Declares Zandvoort ‘One of the Best Circuits’ Ahead of Dutch Grand Prix

As the Formula 1 circus prepares to roar back into action, the Zandvoort circuit is once again taking center stage! Just a week away from the highly-anticipated Dutch Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton has dropped a bombshell, proclaiming Zandvoort as “one of the best circuits” in the world. But what makes this track so special, and why are fans and drivers alike buzzing with excitement?

Returning to the F1 calendar in 2021, Zandvoort has quickly become a beloved venue for many drivers. However, in a bittersweet twist, the circuit is set to bow out after the 2026 season, making the upcoming race all the more significant. Next year, fans can look forward to a Sprint weekend, a fitting farewell for a track that has provided thrilling moments over the years.

Despite Hamilton’s legendary status as a seven-time world champion, Zandvoort has proven to be a challenging arena for him in recent seasons. He finished fourth in 2022, sixth in 2023, and eighth in 2024. His standout moment came during the track’s return to the F1 calendar, where he secured a commendable second place, trailing only behind Dutch hero Max Verstappen.

What sets Zandvoort apart? The circuit’s dramatic elevation changes, banked corners, and a thrilling rollercoaster-like feel have captured the hearts of drivers. Hamilton himself expressed his admiration, likening the circuit to “an old house” filled with character. “And how do you give a house character?” he mused in a recent interview. “The circuit has a lot of imperfections, and the terrain also has a lot of character. Many circuits were built on flat surfaces, whereas this circuit was built when the technology for that didn’t exist.”

Hamilton’s evocative description paints a picture of a track that is both challenging and rewarding. “It’s an old circuit,” he continued, “with a lot of bumps because of the ground and the hills. To me, that just creates one of the best circuits.” And let’s not forget the passionate fans! “It’s great to see the fans there every year. They really make that race what it is, too,” he added, emphasizing the electric atmosphere that Zandvoort offers.

As the countdown to the Dutch Grand Prix begins, anticipation is reaching a fever pitch. Will Hamilton rise to the occasion and conquer the circuit that has proven to be a formidable opponent in recent years? Or will the fervent Dutch crowd rally behind their home hero, Verstappen, to secure yet another victory?

In just over a week, all eyes will be on Zandvoort as the F1 season resumes with a bang. Buckle up, racing fans — this is one race you won’t want to miss!
