As the curtain rises on his maiden season with Ferrari, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton has started off his new chapter in style, bringing to life a cherished cinematic fantasy. The F1 superstar recently recreated the iconic scene from the Hollywood classic, ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’, and it’s been a smashing success on various social media platforms.

Hamilton, known for his lifelong passion for Ferrari, is on the brink of making his much-anticipated debut at the Australian Grand Prix. Yet, before any tires hit the tarmac, he decided to kick off this new season in a rather unique way. The British racing legend took the driver’s seat of his dream retirement vehicle, the Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder, a decision inspired by the renowned movie.

In a previous interview with Time Magazine, Hamilton had expressed his admiration for this Ferrari model, depicting it as the “ultimate retirement car”. He even envisioned a picturesque scene of him cruising down the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) with his beloved dog, Roscoe, as the co-passenger. Although Roscoe was missing in action, Lewis had the company of Golden Globe-winning actor, Edward Norton, who joined him in the passenger seat for this special ride.

The video of this memorable drive was a production by Dawn Apollo Films, a venture of Hamilton himself, designed as a tribute to the celebrated film. Sharing his excitement on Instagram, Hamilton wrote, “No better way to start the season than by fulfilling another dream. This is to pay homage to the iconic film and to celebrate my first season with Ferrari.”

Hamilton’s switch from Mercedes to Ferrari is a significant milestone in his illustrious F1 career. As he turns 40, some skeptics question his ability to maintain his winning streak. However, Hamilton, who is now part of the exclusive group of 40-something drivers along with Fernando Alonso, remains undeterred.

In a defiant response to Time Magazine, Hamilton asserted, “I’m the first and only black driver that’s ever been in this sport. I’m built different. I’ve been through a lot. I’ve had my own journey.” He further emphasized that his primary focus remains on winning, and retirement is nowhere in sight. With an unquenchable thirst for victory and a relentless drive, Hamilton might very well continue to rule the F1 circuit until he hits 50. Who knows? All we can do is watch as this thrilling new chapter unfolds.
