Lewis Hamilton, the British driver for Mercedes AMG in Formula 1, acknowledged that he was unable to match the qualifying performance of his teammate George Russell in the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Despite a strong showing in practice sessions, Hamilton found himself behind Yuki Tsunoda in eighth place, while Russell narrowly missed out on fourth place by just 0.001s. Hamilton admitted that Russell’s lap time was the best the car could achieve, and he was unable to reach that level of performance. He also highlighted the inconsistency of the Mercedes car, which seems to lose pace on Saturdays compared to Fridays. Hamilton’s main goal for the race is to score as many points as possible, and he hopes to overtake Tsunoda during the race. However, he acknowledges that the cars ahead, including Russell, are faster, so managing the tires and the cars ahead will be crucial.
