Haas unleashes revolutionary VF-26 at Barcelona shakedown: a game-changing debut for 2026!

Haas Formula 1 Team Hits the Ground Running in Barcelona: An Aggressive Shakedown for the New VF-26

In a bold move that’s sending shockwaves through the Formula 1 community, Haas has maximized its shakedown session in Barcelona, validating the all-new VF-26 with an intense program aimed at reliability and data collection. The stakes couldn’t be higher as the team embarks on a new era of racing, and they are leaving no stone unturned in their quest for speed and performance.

Taking the wheel were Esteban Ocon and rookie sensation Ollie Bearman, with Ocon showering praise on the crew for their relentless dedication in getting the VF-26 ready in record time – just two days after a previous shakedown at Fiorano. The French driver described the effort as nothing short of a “crazy push,” noting that team members endured sleepless nights for almost two weeks to ensure everything was in place. “This was a very productive test, and we established a solid foundation for our future sessions,” Ocon remarked, though he acknowledged, “There’s still a mountain of work ahead of us.”

Bearman, who faced technical hiccups on the first day, bounced back with a vengeance, shattering previous records by completing more than double the laps in far less time. His enthusiasm was palpable as he described the leap in understanding the car’s dynamics as “huge.” As he and Ocon take the helm of development for this groundbreaking generation of F1 cars, Bearman expressed the thrill of influencing a completely new chassis and power unit.

The track sessions unfolded with Ocon setting the pace on the opening day, quickly racking up valuable mileage in the VF-26. He underscored the importance of these early outings in establishing a competitive edge, sharing that the team’s work ethic had been “insane” but rewarding. Bearman echoed this sentiment, stating that his first impressions of the car’s balance were starting to crystallize, and he relished the opportunity to directly impact the car’s evolution before heading to Bahrain.

Technical director Ayao Komatsu acknowledged the reliability issues that plagued the team on Wednesday but praised their resilience in overcoming these challenges. “We had some late-arriving replacement parts that demanded a night of hard work, but we were ready to hit the track at 9 AM as planned,” he said, emphasizing that the team was focused not just on accumulating laps but on generating high-quality data for analysis. With new regulations reshaping the landscape of F1, Komatsu noted that this shakedown was pivotal in learning how to extract performance from the new machine.

As the dust settles on the shakedown, Haas emerges with a clear victory: they’ve validated the VF-26 in real racing conditions, pinpointed early-stage issues, and set the groundwork for a data-driven approach heading into the pre-season tests in Bahrain. Komatsu confidently stated, “Everything we learn here puts us in a better position for Sakhir,” highlighting the importance of the upcoming week dedicated to refining their new package.

With Ocon’s dedication, Bearman’s resurgence, and Komatsu’s strategic oversight, Haas leaves Barcelona not just satisfied but charged with momentum. They are prepared to transform their brand-new creation into a formidable contender for the 2026 season, setting the stage for what promises to be an exhilarating year in Formula 1. The world is watching—can Haas turn their ambitious plans into podium finishes? Only time will tell as they gear up for the challenges that lie ahead.
