Haas has officially announced that Oliver Bearman will be joining the team in 2025 under a multi-year contract. Bearman, a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy and currently serving as a reserve driver for both Ferrari and Haas, has been participating in multiple FP1 sessions to prepare for a future race seat. Earlier this year, Bearman impressed with a standout performance for Ferrari, finishing seventh in Jeddah after just one practice session. Now, it has been confirmed that he will be one of the two race drivers for Haas next season.
Bearman expressed his overwhelming joy at this opportunity, stating, “It’s difficult to put into words how much this means to me. To be able to say that I will be a Formula 1 driver for MoneyGram Haas F1 Team fills me with immense pride. Being one of the fortunate few who get to live their childhood dream is truly incredible.” He also extended his gratitude to the Haas team, saying, “To Gene, Ayao, and everyone at Haas, thank you for believing in me and entrusting me to represent your team. Since our first meeting in Mexico, I have thoroughly enjoyed working with everyone, and I cannot wait to celebrate this moment with them and hopefully many more in the future. To Fred, Marco, Jock, Alessandro, and everyone at the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy, I wouldn’t be here without you. Thank you for preparing me since F4 for this incredible opportunity, and rest assured, I will give it my all.”
Bearman will be taking over the position currently held by Nico Hulkenberg, and team principal Komatsu commended Bearman’s potential, stating, “It’s truly exciting to be able to offer a talented young driver like Oliver Bearman his first full-time seat in Formula 1. Under the guidance of the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy, he has developed into an incredibly mature driver, as demonstrated when he was called in last minute to compete in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Oliver proved that he was more than ready for the challenge, and we have witnessed his capabilities firsthand during our FP1 sessions over the past two seasons. We are eager to continue nurturing his growth as a driver and reap the benefits of his talent, both on and off the track. Oliver is a fantastic individual, and his presence during the FP1 weekends will be greatly welcomed. Now that we know our relationship will be long-term, it is a positive outcome for all parties involved.”
Team owner Gene Haas emphasized that Bearman’s selection for the 2025 season was based on his talent rather than his affiliation with Ferrari. Haas stated, “I am delighted to provide Oliver Bearman with this opportunity to drive full-time in Formula 1. He is undoubtedly an exciting rookie prospect, not only because of his performance in Saudi Arabia but also due to his ongoing relationship with our team. I am personally thrilled to witness his development as a driver, and we eagerly anticipate his contributions to the MoneyGram Haas F1 Team next season and beyond. This is an exhilarating time for our team, as Oliver’s signing demonstrates our commitment to investing in talent, both on and off the track, as we continue to compete at the highest level.”
