Genesis, Hyundai’s premium brand, has announced the launch of a new performance-focused sub-brand, Magma, and unveiled the radical GV60 Magma Concept.
Magma’s priority is to develop a high-performance model for each existing production vehicle in the lineup, maximizing aesthetics and performance.
Unveiled for the first time, the GV60 Magma Concept will be among the models in the Genesis Magma program destined for production.
“The Genesis Magma presents an excellent opportunity to push the boundaries of performance and luxury for new interpretations in high-performance vehicles, with the ultimate goal of developing exclusive Genesis models”, emphasized Luc Donckerwolke, Genesis’ creative head. “The brand will continue to unveil experimental concepts with careful consideration of technological and aesthetic elements. While speed and performance are important, the Genesis Magma program will look beyond, prioritizing the driving experience to awaken the joy of sporty driving”.
The GV60 Magma is lower and wider than existing versions of the GV60 electric crossover, with 21’’ wheels designed to channel air to the brake discs and improve performance.
In the front, a wider and lower main air intake in the bumper contributes to the cooling of the batteries, engine, and brakes, while the air curtains improve the aerodynamic efficiency of this prototype. The rear features a generously sized wing and diffuser. The distinctive exterior design of the GV60 Magma Concept extends to the luxurious and sporty interior, with elements including seats upholstered in Napa leather and suede with double diamond stitching patterns in the iconic orange and titanium gray color of the Magma. Genesis has revealed that the GV60 Magma is equipped with enhanced battery and motor technology, suggesting that the model may receive the same package used by the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, namely an 84.0 kWh capacity battery powering two electric motors that deliver a combined power of 641 hp.
