Guenther Steiner blasts McLaren: support Lando Norris now or risk championship disaster!

Title: Guenther Steiner Slams McLaren: “Support Lando Norris or Face Disaster!”

In a shocking revelation, former Haas team principal Guenther Steiner has laid down the gauntlet to McLaren, demanding they rally behind their star driver, Lando Norris, in the fiercely contested drivers’ championship. This urgent plea comes hot on the heels of McLaren’s controversial double disqualification from the Las Vegas Grand Prix, a setback that has sent shockwaves through the paddock.

As the season races toward its dramatic conclusion with just two rounds remaining, Norris finds himself in a precarious position, leading the standings by a slim 24-point margin. But the competition is fierce, with his teammate Oscar Piastri and Red Bull’s supreme Max Verstappen hot on his heels, both equally poised to snatch the championship glory away from the British driver.

Despite the mounting pressure, McLaren has stubbornly adhered to a philosophy of letting their drivers race freely, adopting a ‘may the best man win’ approach. However, Steiner vehemently criticized this strategy, suggesting it could backfire spectacularly. “They must support him,” he declared during a fiery appearance on The Red Flags Podcast. “Otherwise, I mean, he hasn’t got a chance. If Oscar steals the point from Lando, that would be… Wow. If Oscar is leading the race, Lando is second, and they don’t let Lando pass, I would be shocked.”

Steiner’s words resonate with urgency as he questions McLaren’s commitment to Norris’s success. “How fair do you want to be? Knowing that Lando now has a lead, but it’s not a comfortable lead for the animal coming,” he warned. “It’s like, ‘Wow, do we want to be eaten up by the animal, or do we try to help one guy?'” His frustration is palpable, urging the team to reconsider their approach before it’s too late.

The stakes are higher than ever, and Steiner’s commentary reflects a deep understanding of the intricacies of Formula 1 racing dynamics. His criticisms extend beyond team strategy, as he reflects on Norris’s performance during the Las Vegas Grand Prix, where a bold move at the start turned disastrous. Steiner accused Verstappen of playing mind games, stating, “Max. He qualified second, but he tricked Lando into making a mistake on the start… He couldn’t win the start, so he basically tricked him into making a mistake and Lando went for it.”

With tensions rising and the championship hanging in the balance, the McLaren team finds itself at a crossroads. Will they heed Steiner’s warning and back Lando Norris as he battles for his first title? Or will they continue down their current path, risking everything in a fight where every point counts? The clock is ticking, and as the season reaches its electrifying climax, the eyes of the motorsport world are firmly fixed on McLaren’s next move.
