Mitch Evans set the fastest time during this morning’s final practice session for the second race of the FIA Formula E double event in Portland. The Jaguar TCS Racing driver achieved a time of 1:08.659s, even though he slid off the track halfway through the thirty-minute session. Evans’ teammate, Nick Cassidy, finished in second place, just 0.044s slower than Evans. Jake Hughes continued to impress with his fast laps, securing third place [+0.107s], closely followed by Antonio Felix da Costa [+0.158s] in fourth. Sébastien Buemi, who struggled in the first race and finished at the back of the pack, claimed fifth place [+0.213s], while Dan Ticktum once again delivered a strong performance, securing sixth place [+0.278s]. Norman Nato, who qualified second [but started 12th after a grid penalty] on Saturday, finished in seventh place [+0.282s], while Robin Frijns, who had an exceptional performance on Saturday to achieve his first podium since the first round, secured eighth place [+0.309s]. Edoardo Mortara, who has recently led a small recovery for the struggling Mahindra team, finished in ninth place [+0.376s], followed by Sacha Fenestraz, who completed the top 10 [+0.419s].

Both Jaguar drivers will be looking to recover from a challenging first race. Cassidy spun from the lead on the penultimate lap, and Evans finished in eighth place despite crossing the finish line in first, as he received a five-second penalty for making contact with Hughes’ McLaren, a decision he vehemently criticized. Cassidy later stated that he was “one lap away” from winning the drivers’ championship, as a victory would have given him a 50-point advantage over Pascal Wehrlein, with only three races remaining.
