Grant Enfinger Faces Major Shake-Up as Crew Chief Exits Before Playoff Showdown at New Hampshire

In a stunning twist just days before the pivotal playoff race at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Grant Enfinger and CR7 Motorsports have parted ways with long-time crew chief Jeff Stankiewicz, sending shockwaves through the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. This dramatic shift comes as the team gears up for the EJP 175, scheduled for this Saturday, September 20, 2025, marking a crucial moment in Enfinger’s quest for championship glory.

Taking the reins as the new crew chief is Michael Shelton, a seasoned strategist with a championship pedigree. Shelton previously guided James Buescher to a title during his tenure at Turner Scott Motorsports in 2012. His experience includes a brief stint with JR Motorsports, where he collaborated with Carson Kvapil, showcasing his ability to adapt quickly in high-pressure situations.

For Enfinger, the 2024 season brought notable success, with two victories and an impressive tally of eight top-five finishes and 14 top-ten finishes across 23 races. However, the current season has proven challenging, with the #9 Chevy driver landing seven top-fives and 12 top-tens in 20 starts, yet still searching for that elusive win.

Team owner Codie Rohrbaugh reflected on the transition, acknowledging Stankiewicz’s significant contributions: “Jeff has played an essential role in our growth and success. His leadership and dedication helped position our team to win races and contend for championships. We are grateful for everything he has contributed to CR7 Motorsports and wish him the very best moving forward.”

Enfinger himself expressed a bittersweet sentiment regarding the change, emphasizing the successful partnership he shared with Stankiewicz. “Jeff and I have shared a lot of success together. His knowledge, preparation, and commitment were big strengths for our team. I’ll always be appreciative of the effort he put into helping us compete at a high level,” he stated.

The stakes couldn’t be higher as Enfinger approaches a critical race, bolstered by a 29-point cushion over the playoff cutoff line. His history at New Hampshire is promising; in 2017, he showcased his talent with a top-five finish while driving the #98 Toyota for ThorSport Racing.

The pressure is mounting as the playoff race looms, and Enfinger’s crew will need to hit the ground running with Shelton at the helm. This sudden shift has raised eyebrows, and all eyes will be on the #9 Chevy as they attempt to navigate these turbulent waters.

Earlier this season, Enfinger’s frustration was palpable when he finished as the runner-up at the EcoSave 200 in Las Vegas, where he felt he had the upper hand over eventual winner Corey Heim. “Just a little frustrated, just because I feel like we had a shot at that at the end. I feel like we were better than Corey on a long run,” he lamented post-race, underscoring the razor-thin margins that define success in NASCAR.

As the countdown to the EJP 175 continues, will the new crew chief change the fortunes of Grant Enfinger? Fans and analysts alike are on the edge of their seats, eager to see if this bold move pays off in the high-stakes arena of NASCAR racing.
