GOODBYE Alfa Romeo MITO, HELLO MILANO

ADEUS Alfa Romeo MITO, OLÁ MILANO

Alfa Romeo is preparing to begin its transition to fully electric vehicles with the launch of the Milano, a B-segment crossover that indirectly replaces the MiTo supermini. The Milano, which will be produced in Poland, is based on a platform developed by Groupe PSA and will feature an electric version, as well as at least one internal combustion engine option. A prototype with an internal combustion engine was recently spotted in Italy, sporting a dual exhaust, a sporty touch for a three-cylinder engine.

The Milano will be offered in three versions: electric, mild hybrid, or purely combustion. With Alfa Romeo planning to become fully electric by 2027, the mild hybrid unit seems to be the best option for the Milano. This engine develops 100 hp power and 205 Nm of maximum torque, with a dual-clutch transmission coming as standard.

Unlike the MiTo, which was exclusively three-door, the Milano promises about 400 kilometers of range in the electric version. Both the Avenger and the 600 use a 50 kWh battery pack, reaching 100 km/h in about 9 seconds, with a top speed of 150 km/h.

Published photos of the Milano’s instrument cluster suggest the existence of a Dual Motor option, but only time will tell if these images were authentic or not. It is worth remembering that a second electric motor can worsen the range, which is one of the highest priorities for any potential customer.

The Milano will certainly help improve Alfa Romeo’s relatively low sales in Europe and the United Kingdom.
