Charles Leclerc concluded the second free practice of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in Formula 1 with the best time. It was also the only one in which he drove this Friday in Yas Marina, after giving the car to rookie Robert Shwartzman in FP1.
The Monegasque driver from Ferrari spoke about a complicated Friday in which he was pleased with the car despite not being able to drive much – two red flags greatly shortened the useful time of FP2: ‘It was a complicated day. We only completed two laps in the short run and not many in general, but the feeling in the car is very good so far’.
Ferrari arrives in Abu Dhabi competing for second place in the Constructors’ Championship with Mercedes, and Leclerc is aware that it will be a tough battle: ‘The fight with Mercedes is there and they seem competitive, so it won’t be easy. We will do everything we can to qualify ahead of them tomorrow’.
