The National Republican Guard (GNR) started a road inspection operation this Monday, aimed at controlling speed, which will take place until the 21st on the most critical roads under its responsibility, where there is a higher incidence of accidents and speeding violations.
This operation is part of the European Traffic Police Network (RoadPol) and aims to “raise awareness in society for safer behaviors by drivers and passengers, aiming at promoting road safety and safeguarding human lives.”
In a statement, the GNR reported that in 2023, within the “RoadPol – Speed” operation, a total of 84,601 traffic accidents were recorded, with at least 3,447 of these accidents likely caused by excessive speed.
Regarding speed enforcement, last year, 101,169 infractions were recorded. “With this action, the aim is also to raise awareness among drivers about the importance of adopting safer behaviors, aiming at promoting road safety and safeguarding human lives,” the GNR note states.
