The Republican National Guard (GNR) started on Monday, June 17, the “intensive inspection operation” for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, as part of the annual planning carried out by the European network RoadPol.
The operation ‘RoadPol – Alcohol and Drugs’, which runs until June 23, aims to “promote safer behavior by drivers and reduce serious road accidents throughout the mainland national territory,” emphasizes the GNR in a statement.
The same note adds that “these European operations have as their main purpose the creation of a safer road environment through simultaneous intervention on the main causes of accidents, seeking to positively influence users, leading them to adopt behaviors that prioritize safer behavior.”
It should be noted that in the year 2023, out of the 2,143,736 drivers inspected by the GNR, 33,657 had a blood alcohol level higher than the legal limit.
