The National Republican Guard (GNR) is conducting an inspection operation from this Monday until October 4, focusing on the road transport of goods and passengers, aiming at road safety.
In a statement, the GNR clarifies that as part of this operation, inspections will be carried out on alterations to vehicle characteristics and modifications, daily and weekly driving times, breaks and daily and weekly rest periods, as well as the use of safety devices.
Furthermore, the conditions for vehicle circulation will also be inspected, particularly the state of tires, the use and handling of mobile phones, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
During the inspection operation, which will take place on roads with a high volume of heavy passenger transport vehicles, the GNR will also monitor instantaneous vehicle speeds recorded by the control device over the last 24 hours, as well as the functioning of the control device (tachograph).
The GNR operation is once again part of Euro Contrôle Route (ECR), a group of European transport inspection organizations aimed at improving road safety and sustainability, fair competition, and working conditions in road transport.
