Two people died and 10 were seriously injured in the 827 accidents recorded by the GNR during the Easter Operation 2024, which started on Thursday and ends today, according to the provisional balance.
In a statement, the GNR also reported that 240 minor injuries were recorded between 00:00 on Thursday and 23:59 on Sunday.
Out of the 22,263 drivers checked, 303 were driving under the influence of alcohol and, of these, 165 were arrested for driving with a blood alcohol level equal to or greater than 1.2 g/l. 56 people were also arrested for driving without a legal license, according to the GNR.
In total, the GNR detected 2913 road traffic offenses, 642 for speeding, 455 for lack of mandatory periodic inspection, 153 for lack of mandatory civil liability insurance, and 76 for anomalies in lighting and signaling systems.
In actions carried out by the military from the Territorial Commands and the National Traffic Unit, 69 drivers were also detected using a mobile phone improperly while driving and 85 cases of lack or incorrect use of seat belts and/or child seats.
