George Russell, the rising star of Formula 1, is shaking things up at Mercedes as he reveals a crucial target for a high-stakes meeting following a series of disappointing performances by the team’s W16 car.

The once-dominant Mercedes team has hit a rough patch, slipping from the second-best car on the grid to third or fourth place, with Ferrari and McLaren surging ahead in recent races. What has caused this sudden decline in performance? Russell is determined to find out.

In a post-race interview after finishing in fifth place at Spa, Russell expressed his frustration with the team’s recent struggles, especially in wet and cold conditions that used to favor the Mercedes powerhouse. “We’ve just had no pace recently, we need to sit down,” he shared with Sky Sports F1.

The team wasted no time and convened a crucial meeting at their Brackley headquarters to address the issues plaguing the W16 after the Belgian Grand Prix. Russell highlighted the urgency of understanding the decisions that led to the team’s decline, emphasizing the need to figure out why they have “gone backwards.”

Trackside engineering chief Andrew Shovlin hinted at significant changes on the horizon for Mercedes, with a potential shake-up planned for the upcoming race in Hungary. “It is definitely possible for us to look at changing aspects of the car for Budapest,” Shovlin disclosed to the media.

As Mercedes scrambles to regain its competitive edge, all eyes are on the team’s next moves and the outcome of the high-stakes meeting that could determine their future performance on the track. Stay tuned for more updates as the drama unfolds in the world of Formula 1.
