George Russell supports the possibility of Max Verstappen joining Mercedes amid the turmoil at Red Bull.

George Russell apoia a possibilidade de Max Verstappen se juntar à Mercedes em meio ao tumulto na Red Bull.

George Russell expressed that he would be open to having Max Verstappen as his teammate at Mercedes. Verstappen’s recent departure from Red Bull has sparked speculations about other key members leaving the team. There have been rumors of and considering leaving the Austrian constructor next season. Tensions between and Marko have been a hot topic in the paddock. Despite this, Russell believes he wouldn’t mind having Verstappen as a teammate.

Discussions about Verstappen joining Mercedes began shortly after announced his surprising move to Ferrari. The investigation surrounding the Dutchman further fueled his decision to leave. However, Verstappen denied these claims, stating that not even a large sum of money would make him leave Red Bull. Nevertheless, Russell expressed his support for the current world champion joining the Brackley team. He also reflected on his own experience joining Mercedes and how being Hamilton’s teammate was a challenging task.

Russell also mentioned that he has confidence in himself and his abilities to compete against Verstappen. He emphasized the importance of facing the best driver in the same machinery. Therefore, George Russell believes that his journey as Hamilton’s teammate was remarkable and praised the 39-year-old driver for their time together.

Max Verstappen is currently at the peak of his career in Formula 1, having won three impressive world championships. As a result, he is considered one of the greatest drivers in F1 history. Many drivers are eager to compete against the current world champion to prove their skills, including George Russell. Russell stated that he would welcome Verstappen as his teammate because he wants to challenge the best F1 driver. He believes that everyone wants to showcase their racing abilities and that the move to Mercedes needs to happen.

Verstappen’s dominant performances have allowed him to establish early advantages in previous seasons. However, this season has been different, as Red Bull has already faced setbacks in two races. It will be interesting to see how rival teams will handle Red Bull’s strong pace in the 2024 season. Mercedes has also struggled with their issues in the ground effect era and has yet to achieve significant results.
