After beating Lewis Hamilton in 2022, in his first season with Mercedes, George Russell was clearly outperformed by his teammate this year – finishing five positions behind the seven-time champion. A result that did not leave him pleased.
The #63 told the Telegraph, ‘I’ve never had a season where I’ve had so many missed opportunities. Last year was smooth. It seemed like a pretty normal season. But this year was one thing after another. I need to understand why.’
Russell dismissed that pressure was working against him: ‘It’s not the pressure. I don’t worry if I have the greatest driver of all time in the garage next to me, or if I’m a one-man team.’
