Pierre Gasly, from the Alpine F1 team, revealed that the team is resisting the temptation to make small updates to their Formula 1 car. Instead, they are focused on making a significant leap that will allow them to compete for better positions in races. Alpine had initially warned that the new car concept would take time to reach its maximum potential, but they were surprised to find themselves at the back of the pack in the first race in Bahrain. It was found that the A524 car was too heavy and not competitive enough. Since then, Alpine has introduced a lighter chassis to meet the minimum weight requirement, and they have seen some improvement with Esteban Ocon scoring a point in Miami and Gasly finishing 10th in Monaco. However, they are still behind their competitors in the midfield, as other teams have made more significant developments in recent races. Despite this, Gasly remains optimistic and believes that Alpine will eventually catch up to their rivals. He explains that the team is working on an upgrade package that they are confident will give them an advantage over their competitors. Gasly acknowledges that there have been positive changes within the team, but unfortunately, these improvements have not yet translated into better performance on the track due to the limitations of the current concept of their car. He emphasizes the importance of patience and waiting for the right moment to introduce updates that will truly make a difference in their fight for better positions.

The disastrous start to the Alpine season has resulted in significant changes behind the scenes, including a switch to the three-pronged technical arrangement adopted by McLaren. Gasly has expressed his full confidence in the structure and personnel at the respective Alpine bases, believing they can turn the team’s fortunes around. Despite the challenging circumstances of only having one point in the championship after seven races, Gasly sees many positive aspects in the team’s mentality and the determination of everyone involved to bring about change. While he has not commented on his future with Alpine, Gasly has expressed his desire to compete for better positions. He acknowledged that Alpine will soon need to make a definitive decision regarding the car concept they chose to change last winter. As a driver, Gasly is actively pushing the team in various areas to achieve their goals, as the deadline approaches for all of them. Despite the team’s current position, Gasly feels encouraged by the motivation, response, and positive attitude he sees from everyone involved. He eagerly awaits the results of their findings in the wind tunnel and the decisions they will make regarding the car concept.
