Gasly and Colapinto Gear Up for Thrilling Baku Showdown: Can They Conquer the Streets?

Title: Baku Awaits: Gasly and Colapinto Gear Up for a Thrilling Showdown in Azerbaijan!

As the engines rev up for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, two standout drivers from the Alpine team are poised to make waves on the unforgiving streets of Baku. Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto are set to unleash their competitive spirits in a city that holds fond memories and high hopes for them.

Last year, Colapinto made headlines by clinching his first points in Formula 1, while Gasly stood on the podium in 2021, showcasing his prowess in this electrifying race. With the current season proving to be an uphill battle for Alpine, the stakes couldn’t be higher as they aim to turn their fortunes around in this iconic location.

“I’m ready to return to Baku, where I scored my first F1 points last year,” exclaimed Colapinto, reflecting on his exhilarating eighth-place finish that marked a significant milestone in his career. “Despite the challenges we faced at Monza, I feel good with the car. We’ve dedicated time to debriefing, and last week I was at Enstone preparing for this weekend’s race in Azerbaijan. Baku is one of the most beautiful circuits we visit, combining stunning views of the Old City and the famous Flame Towers with the thrilling challenge of the narrow street track. This weekend, we must capitalize on the opportunities that will arise on such a demanding circuit. We know it won’t be easy, but we’re determined to deliver the best results possible and kick off the Asian leg of the season on a positive note for the team.”

Gasly echoed his teammate’s enthusiasm, stating, “I can’t wait to get back on track this weekend as we embark on the next series of overseas races in Baku. This circuit and city hold a special place in my heart, having achieved great results here before, including a podium finish in 2021 and another in GP2 back in 2016. Success here comes from driving cleanly and intelligently, which is crucial on a challenging track like Baku. The long straights and the tight, twisting castle section, along with the high speeds and close walls, create a high-risk environment. We must ensure we are in the best position to seize opportunities when they arise.

The car setup will be complex, requiring a compromise between track characteristics. We aim to start strong on Friday, but honestly, we’re in Baku: anything can happen. I’ve had a productive week in between races, including a day at Enstone on the simulator and a visit with the staff. I also went to Paris for a fun padel event with Alpine, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Padel is a sport I love, so being involved is always a pleasure.”

As the anticipation builds, all eyes will be on Gasly and Colapinto in Baku, where the allure of victory and the thrill of the race promise an unforgettable spectacle. Will they rise to the occasion and bring home the results Alpine desperately needs? The streets of Baku are about to come alive!
