The Galp announced that it has started selling 100% renewable diesel to companies looking to reduce the carbon footprint of their fleets.
The new 100% renewable diesel is a low-carbon biofuel that is “obtained from residual or advanced raw materials such as used cooking oils and animal fat waste, and allows for a reduction of CO2 emissions of up to 90% (product lifecycle) compared to fossil diesel”, Galp highlights in a statement.
“Its use in vehicles with internal combustion diesel engines is identical to that of conventional diesel”.
The Portuguese oil company says it has mobilized resources to “make this new HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) fuel available, obtained through non-fossil raw material hydroprocessing processes, initially at the Matosinhos and Vila Franca de Xira stations, for corporate customers and logistics operators with the Galp Frota Corporate card, or by direct delivery to customer facilities. The expansion of this product in Galp’s network of stations will follow market demand”.
Galp also adds that “Bosch, driven by the combination of innovation and sustainability of this new energy solution, was the first customer to join, mobilizing the collaboration of TJA, one of the main local logistics operators of the German company, a leader in the supply of technology and services”.
