“Galp installs ultrafast chargers ‘made in Portugal'”

Galp instala carregadores ultrarrápidos “made in Portugal”

Galp has just opened a new electric charging hub in Esmoriz, near the A29, equipped with the first ultrafast chargers from Siemens manufactured in Portugal.

The new chargers, model Sicharge D, offer 12 sockets with a power of up to 300 kW, allowing for a 100 km range to be charged in just six minutes.

“We are consolidating our leadership position in this segment with a strategy that combines investments in more charging points, faster ones, and Galp stations that offer the best convenience, responding to users’ needs and bringing more customers into the electrification journey”, said Duarte Martins, head of the technical area of electric mobility at Galp.

For its part, Siemens, which produces the new Sicharge D chargers at its Corroios facility, noted that the new charging solutions are prepared for the future of electric mobility.

“The solutions we installed in Esmoriz demonstrate our commitment to sustainability and innovation, as they not only meet the current needs of electric vehicle users – availability, speed, reliability, among others – but are also prepared for the future challenges in this area, which will be essential to achieve the goals of decarbonizing the economy”, said João Gouveia, head of eMobility at Siemens Portugal.

It is noteworthy that Galp achieved a new record in 2024 for the use of its network, with a total of 1.4 million charging sessions, representing a 40% growth compared to 2023.
