Rising Star Gabriel Bortoleto: The Bold Choice for Cadillac F1’s 2025 Rookie Driver!

In an electrifying turn of events for the Formula 1 landscape, former IndyCar driver and respected commentator James Hinchcliffe has thrown his weight behind the young Brazilian sensation, Gabriel Bortoleto, as a prime candidate for Cadillac F1’s rookie seat in 2025. As the American automotive giant gears up to make its grand debut on the F1 grid in 2026, the spotlight is quickly shifting toward who will pilot their cars in this high-octane arena.

Cadillac, backed by the formidable resources of General Motors, is navigating a whirlwind of speculation surrounding its driver lineup. With names like former Sauber ace Valtteri Bottas and ex-Red Bull star Sergio Perez swirling in the mix, Hinchcliffe is boldly advocating for the fresh talent of Bortoleto, who has been nothing short of a revelation this season.

“Bortoleto has been super impressive because that car is not great,” Hinchcliffe asserted during a riveting discussion on The Red Flags Podcast. The rookie’s ability to extract top performance from a less-than-stellar vehicle is a testament to his extraordinary talent. “Even when it’s good for a Sauber, it’s still not great,” he added, emphasizing the uphill battle Bortoleto faces.

The stats speak volumes: Hinchcliffe pointed out that Bortoleto is edging out veteran Nico Hulkenberg in qualifying performance, leading the charge with an impressive eight to six scoreline. “That’s really impressive. And he does that on Saturday, but then he backs it up on Sunday,” Hinchcliffe noted, highlighting Bortoleto’s consistency with standout performances, particularly in Austria and Hungary.

But what truly sets Bortoleto apart is his inspiring journey. “What I like about him is he’s just a kid who came from nothing,” Hinchcliffe praised. “He really just had to work hard and really, really put in the effort to get there. He had to win to keep going, and he did.” This gritty determination and relentless pursuit of excellence have made him a standout in the current rookie class.

As the F1 world anticipates Cadillac’s entry, the question looms large: who will fill the coveted seats? When pressed on who he would select as the rookie to join Cadillac’s ranks, Hinchcliffe didn’t hesitate, declaring, “Of the four that are out there now? Yeah, probably [Bortoleto].”

Currently, Bortoleto stands 17th in the drivers’ standings, with 14 points to his name. His journey is just beginning, but with advocates like Hinchcliffe in his corner, the future looks incredibly bright for this young driver. Will Cadillac heed the call and secure Bortoleto for its inaugural season? Only time will tell, but one thing is for certain: Gabriel Bortoleto is a name that fans and insiders alike will be watching closely as the F1 narrative unfolds.
