Fury Unleashed: Wolff Blasts Piastri for Controversial Move on Rising Star Antonelli

2025 Miami Grand Prix, Friday - Richard Pardon

In a shocking turn of events at the GP Miami 2025 Sprint Race, tensions ran high as young Italian driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli found himself at the center of controversy. The Mercedes team principal, Toto Wolff, expressed outrage over the alleged mistreatment Antonelli faced during the race.

Starting from pole position after an impressive performance in the Friday night mini-qualifying session, Antonelli was reportedly forced off track in turn 1 by Oscar Piastri, causing him to rejoin the race in fourth place. As if that wasn’t enough, a pit lane incident with Max Verstappen further dashed Antonelli’s hopes of scoring points in the race.

Wolff did not hold back in his criticism, particularly targeting Piastri for his aggressive driving tactics. In an interview with Sky UK, Wolff condemned the move, stating, “Piastri simply let go of the brakes and pushed the other driver off the track… We know from junior categories that you need to leave the space of a car, but he just dove in.”

The Mercedes boss also took aim at Red Bull for the pit stop blunder that affected Antonelli’s race, calling out the lack of judgment that led to Verstappen rejoining the track unsafely. Despite Verstappen being penalized for the incident, Wolff expressed his dismay at the situation, emphasizing the impact it had on the young Italian driver’s performance.

As tensions continue to rise in the aftermath of the GP Miami Sprint Race, the Formula 1 community is left to wonder about the future repercussions of such incidents on the sport. Will Antonelli bounce back from this setback, or are more challenges awaiting the promising young talent? Only time will tell in this high-stakes world of competitive racing.
