Frankie Muniz, once a household name for his role in Malcolm in the Middle, is trading the red carpet for the racetrack as he prepares for his first full-time NASCAR Truck Series season in 2025. Set to pilot the No. 33 Ford for Reaume Brothers Racing, the 39-year-old actor-turned-racer is ready to prove his critics wrong and make his mark in the world of motorsports.

The Road to NASCAR

Muniz’s passion for racing is no passing hobby. He’s been chasing his motorsport dreams for years, balancing his acting career with stints in racing. His journey began in open-wheel racing before shifting focus to stock cars, including an impressive fourth-place finish in the 2023 ARCA Menards Series standings.

His experience in the Truck Series, however, has been more challenging. In 2024, Muniz competed in four races, with a best finish of 29th at Kansas. While his part-time performance didn’t wow the critics, Muniz believes that a full-time schedule will allow him to truly showcase his potential.

“Racing is something I’ve always been passionate about, and getting a full-time opportunity is a dream come true,” Muniz shared. “I’m looking forward to showing what I can do with a full season under my belt.”

Gearing Up for Daytona

Muniz recently arrived in Charlotte, North Carolina, to prepare for the season ahead. Taking to social media, he gave fans a glimpse into the process:

“On my first trip of the 2025 NASCAR season. Just landed in Charlotte, getting seats mounted and getting everything prepped for the season now, so we can focus on the important stuff as we get closer to Daytona!”

The Daytona 500, NASCAR’s most prestigious event, marks the official start of the season, and Muniz’s participation as a full-time driver will bring added excitement to an already electric atmosphere.

Fans Rally Behind Muniz

Muniz’s transition from acting to racing has generated immense buzz, and fans are rallying around him with encouragement and enthusiasm. Comments on his posts reveal the excitement brewing at the Charlotte Motor Speedway, where NASCAR culture runs deep.

One fan welcomed Muniz with a warm message:

“We live here & love all things NASCAR! My son works at the Lionel Store near the Speedway. He’d be so excited to meet you! Welcome to Charlotte!”

Others shared their anticipation for his debut:

“Can’t wait to see you out there every week!”
“Good luck in preparation, Frankie!”

Even food recommendations came rolling in, with one fan offering to buy him a meal at a local spot just to meet him:

“Frankie, you gotta go to Steak n Hoagie on Eastway Drive—it’s not far from the speedway. I’ll buy—please meet me there!”

Muniz’s NASCAR Journey: More Than Just a Hollywood Story

While Muniz’s Hollywood fame adds a unique twist to his NASCAR story, his dedication to the sport is evident. Fans may recall his connection to NASCAR dates back to 2001, when he drove the pace car for the Daytona 500—the same race where the legendary Dale Earnhardt tragically lost his life.

Reflecting on the moment, Muniz told The Athletic:

“It’s a weird thought to think that maybe, minus his crew chief and family, I may have been one of the last people to talk to him.”

Now, nearly 25 years later, Muniz is stepping onto the Daytona stage not as a fan or guest, but as a competitor—a testament to his commitment and passion.

What’s Next for Muniz?

The 2025 season offers Frankie Muniz a fresh start and a chance to silence his doubters. While he’ll face stiff competition from seasoned drivers, his determination to improve and learn from every lap could make him a standout in the NASCAR Truck Series.

Fans are eagerly awaiting his first race, not just for the spectacle but for the inspiration his journey brings. From TV stardom to chasing checkered flags, Muniz’s story is a reminder that it’s never too late to follow your passion—even if it takes you from a sitcom set to the high-speed world of NASCAR.

The stage is set, the engines are revving, and Frankie Muniz is ready to prove he belongs. Will this be his breakout season? Time, and Daytona, will tell.
