Ferrari Boss Fred Vasseur Under Fire: Will He Stay or Will He Go?

Amidst swirling rumors about his future at Ferrari, team principal Fred Vasseur remains defiant, demanding time to address the speculations surrounding his position. Reports suggest that Ferrari had even approached Christian Horner for Vasseur’s job, intensifying the uncertainty surrounding the Frenchman’s tenure.

Taking over as Ferrari’s team principal in 2023, Vasseur replaced Mattia Binotto after a lackluster 2022 season. Despite initial success, including Ferrari being the only team alongside Red Bull to secure a race win in his debut season, the team’s performance has dwindled recently. With the addition of Lewis Hamilton to the roster, expectations were high for Ferrari in 2024, but they now find themselves struggling to maintain their competitive edge.

Speculation is rife that Vasseur’s days at Ferrari may be numbered, with reports suggesting that his performance is under scrutiny by top management. The Italian media has even hinted at the possibility of Antonello Coletta taking over Vasseur’s role. Despite the mounting pressure, Vasseur remains resolute, dismissing rumors and focusing on his job.

Addressing the media, Vasseur expressed his frustration, stating, “I don’t want to waste time on it. Journalists aren’t the ones who decide who we replace.” He remains unfazed by talks of a non-renewal of his contract, emphasizing that there is still time for discussions.

As Ferrari slips to third place in the Constructors’ Championship, trailing behind Mercedes and Red Bull, the spotlight on Vasseur’s future grows more intense. Will he be able to steer Ferrari back to success, or is his time at the helm coming to an end? Only time will tell the fate of Ferrari’s embattled team principal.
