Ferrari’s team principal Fred Vasseur has issued a rallying cry to his squad ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 season, warning that no area of the team can afford complacency as they look to end their title drought. With a mixed 2024 season behind them, Ferrari is aiming for nothing short of all-round improvement to reclaim its status at the top of the grid.
2024: A Rollercoaster Year for Ferrari
Ferrari’s 2024 campaign began with promise. Two wins and nine podiums from the first eight races suggested the SF-24 was a genuine contender. However, a disastrous upgrade package introduced in Spain triggered a spiral of setbacks, as excessive bouncing saw Ferrari lose its edge.
It wasn’t until the Monza and Singapore rounds that Ferrari corrected its course, securing three wins in the final nine races. But by then, McLaren had seized the initiative, with Lando Norris’ victory in Abu Dhabi sealing the Constructors’ Championship.
Vasseur Finds Hope in Ferrari’s Resilience
Despite falling short, Fred Vasseur found reasons to be optimistic. He praised Ferrari’s ability to rally during tough times, highlighting the team’s response to mid-season challenges as proof of its potential.
“What gives me confidence is the step we made compared to one year ago,” Vasseur explained. “It’s how we reacted in tough moments that showed the team is working as a team. When you’re winning, everything is easy. But it’s in the difficult weekends where the reaction matters—and we reacted very, very well.”
Vasseur also commended Ferrari’s drivers, who rebounded strongly after a disastrous weekend in Las Vegas, keeping the team competitive in the final stretch.
‘No Excuses, Improve Everywhere’
Looking ahead to 2025, Vasseur has made it clear that Ferrari cannot focus on fixing one area—they must address weaknesses across the board to challenge for the championship.
“It would be a mistake to think there’s just one thing we need to improve,” he said. “If you want to do a good job, you have to focus on every single pillar of performance—reliability, development, and all areas of the car. We have to improve everywhere.”
But Vasseur’s message isn’t just about technical upgrades; it’s a call for a cultural shift within Ferrari.
“This mindset is the DNA of our sport. If we don’t wake up every morning looking to do better than yesterday, we are dead,” Vasseur warned. “I will continue to push every single employee to believe they are contributors to performance. Every department has to improve.”
Ferrari’s Title Drought Rolls On
As Ferrari’s championship drought stretches into 2025, the pressure is mounting for the iconic team to deliver results. The last Constructors’ Championship for the Scuderia came in 2008, and their last Drivers’ title dates back to 2007 with Kimi Räikkönen.
The resurgence of rivals McLaren and the continued dominance of Red Bull have made the task even harder. But Vasseur believes Ferrari has the tools to fight back—if they can execute across all areas.
Can Ferrari Rise Again?
With the 2025 season looming, the stakes have never been higher for Ferrari. Vasseur’s insistence on across-the-board improvements signals a no-compromise approach, but can the team deliver?
If Ferrari can build on the resilience they showed in the latter half of 2024 and avoid the pitfalls that plagued their mid-season, they may finally be in a position to challenge Red Bull and McLaren for the top honors.
One thing is certain: Fred Vasseur is leaving no room for error.
