Since arriving in Formula 1 in 2015, Max Verstappen wasted no time in making an impact. Despite only turning 18 during the current season, he immediately outperformed his teammate Carlos Sainz at Toro Rosso (now AlphaTauri). The following year, he moved to Red Bull from the Spanish Grand Prix and still managed to finish “only” 52 points behind his teammate Daniel Ricciardo.
From then until today, he has never been behind any teammate in the championship, already securing three titles. Franz Tost worked closely with the Dutchman and was asked by F1-Insider.com if he sees him being beaten by a teammate in the future. The Austrian replied:
– No. If Max continues to have a good car, he will win many more races and titles. He is not yet at his limit and will only improve. No driver who is or will be his teammate will ever go beyond the role of the second driver.
