Frankie Muniz: From Hollywood to the Fast Lane

Former child star Frankie Muniz, known for his role on “Malcolm in the Middle,” has shifted gears from Hollywood to the adrenaline-fueled world of racing. The actor turned racer has set his sights on ambitious yet realistic milestones for the ongoing Truck Series season.

Muniz embarked on his racing journey in the 2024 season with a partial Xfinity Series program but faced setbacks in his two starts. Undeterred, he made the transition to the Truck Series and signed on as a full-time driver with Reaume Brothers Racing in February 2025.

In a recent interview on DRIVE with Jim Farley, Muniz candidly shared his aspirations as a driver. He emphasized the importance of setting achievable goals, stating, “To be a top 20 guy in the points in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, I think like 16 people won last year. If you’re in the top 20 in that competitive series, you’re doing really well.”

While Muniz dreams of clinching the championship title, his immediate focus is on consistently ranking in the top 20 to earn credibility in the racing world. He also highlighted the positive impact of receiving support from Ford for his team at Reaume Brothers Racing, noting that their program was poised to elevate to new heights.

However, Muniz’s journey hasn’t been without challenges. A recent race at Texas Motor Speedway ended in disappointment as he crashed into the outside wall due to a blown tire, marking his fourth Did Not Finish (DNF) of the season. Despite his determination, Muniz faced difficulties in getting sufficient practice due to his filming commitments, which impacted his performance on the track.

Reflecting on the race at Texas, Muniz expressed frustration, lamenting the string of misfortunes that have plagued his season. He recalled past mechanical failures in his racing career, underscoring the resilience required to persevere in the face of adversity.

Currently sitting at 24th on the Truck Series points table with 109 points, Muniz remains optimistic about his future in racing. As he navigates the highs and lows of competitive racing, the former actor continues to chase his dreams with unwavering determination and passion.
