Frankie Muniz’s NASCAR Dream Accelerates: From Sitcom Star to the Truck Series Track – “I Literally Gag”

NASCAR Truck Series driver Frankie Muniz suits up before the Rackley Roofing 200 at Nashville Superspeedway in Lebanon, Tennessee on Friday, June 28, 2024.

Frankie Muniz, the childhood star who charmed audiences on Malcolm in the Middle, has swapped Hollywood lights for NASCAR nights, and at 39, he’s just getting started. Muniz, now preparing for his first full-time NASCAR Truck Series season in 2025, is proving that life after stardom can still bring high-speed thrills. But amidst his daring new chapter, Muniz recently gave fans a glimpse into his lighter, more relatable side, revealing a hilariously peculiar pet peeve that caught everyone off guard.

Heart Hands? Hard Pass.

In a candid tweet, Muniz revealed his biggest irritation: the “heart hands” gesture.

“Maybe one of my biggest pet peeves on the planet is heart hands. I literally gag,” he wrote, leaving fans both puzzled and amused.

The universally recognized symbol of love and affection struck a nerve with the actor-turned-racer, sparking a wave of playful replies. Fans flooded his tweet with emojis, with some even jokingly promising to greet him at NASCAR races with none other than—you guessed it—heart hands.

This quirky confession isn’t the first time Muniz has shared his pet peeves. In another interview, he admitted a dislike for slow drivers, a frustration relatable to anyone stuck in Los Angeles traffic. Muniz once joked about buying a motorcycle just to dodge the sluggish freeway crawl, and it’s no surprise—L.A. traffic is infamous for wasting time and gas, costing the average commuter around $1,300 a year, according to Texas A&M research.

From Sitcom Star to Full-Throttle Racer

While Muniz’s personality quirks entertain fans off-track, his racing career continues to gain momentum. Muniz’s first connection with NASCAR dates back to 2001 when he drove the pace car at the Daytona 500, a race etched in history due to Dale Earnhardt’s tragic passing.

His racing journey officially began in Formula BMW USA in 2006, followed by the Champ Car Atlantic Series in 2007. But it wasn’t until his 2023 ARCA Menards Series campaign that Muniz truly impressed, finishing a commendable fourth in the standings.

A Mixed NASCAR Season: Can 2025 Be His Breakout Year?

In 2024, Muniz made his NASCAR Truck Series debut, participating in four races. While his best finish was a modest 29th at Kansas, Muniz’s commitment to improving his craft has won him respect in the racing community. Now, as he gears up for his full-time debut in the No. 33 Ford for Reaume Brothers Racing, the pressure is on to prove he can compete with the best.

A Racing Legacy in the Making

Frankie Muniz’s pivot from sitcom fame to professional racing is more than just a career shift—it’s a testament to his passion for speed and a willingness to embrace challenges. Despite mixed results in his early NASCAR outings, fans are eager to see how he performs in 2025.

So, will the man who conquered Hollywood have the grit to conquer NASCAR’s Truck Series? One thing’s for sure—whether it’s racing at full throttle or dodging heart hands, Frankie Muniz is always full of surprises. Let us know your thoughts: Can Muniz leave his mark in NASCAR?
